The Verge just broke the story that HP's webOS Enyo team will be going to Google. Enyo is the HTML5-based framework that received a lot of love when it debuted on the failed TouchPad. This could be truly exciting. If this team of technical geniuses were to work with the Android team then iOS could face very stiff competition when Licorice1 is rolled out some time next year. Although I'm not a huge fan of Android, I have been a proponent of webOS for some time. I look forward to seeing what comes out of this $0-billion acquisition.
The the only question I have is whether these talented people will go to Android or Motorola. If Google would really like to make their Motorola products shine, this would be an excellent way to do so. The Android team could continue to make the 'open' version that can be used by anybody, and the Enyo team could take that base and tune the UI to create a more fluid and intuitive interface that people will come to know and love.
All this said, this is probably the final nail in webOS's coffin.
