Winding Down Feedburner

As promised earlier this month, FeedBurner will no longer be distributing any content from this site after tomorrow morning1. This decision came about for a few reasons, one of which being the sunsetting of the service later this year. Hopefully anybody who would like to continue reading the endless rambling that comes out on this site will move over to the new RSS address. People who choose not to update their RSS readers, which seems to be about 87 readers in total, will have one less site taking up space in their reader of choice every day.

What's After Twitter?

Any time Twitter makes a change to who can access their API and why, developers all over the web are up in arms about the once-open platform tightening the noose and forcing out any competition. The recent change that saw LinkedIn lose it's ability to display our Tweets is just the latest in a long string of such changes. Like every time before, some people are threatening to quit the service1, or create their own competing microblogging alternative2. Brent Simmons is one who is proposing developers consider going with the latter option.

It's Called a 'Feed' For a Reason

There has been a lot of discussion around the blogosphere again about GTD1 and how people go about ensuring their goals are being met. 99.9999987% of these posts are fine for the authors but do little to guide anyone else in being more productive. A lot of people seem to think that in order to accomplish anything during the day they need to have some extra software that is tied directly to their phones or main work computer, full screen applications, or a complete disconnect from the various social media distractions such as Twitter and Facebook. While very few of these items would actually make me any more productive than I am today2, there is one item that could very well free up a great deal of time: ditching the RSS feeds.
