# Jason Irwin

Software developer. English teacher. Occasionally useful.

## About

Canadian, living in rural Aichi, Japan for approximately twenty years. Started writing code in 1994. Also teaches English, which tends to surprise people who assume programmers communicate primarily with computers and error messages.

Builds software that treats users with respect: no ads, no tracking, no dark patterns, no artificial friction toward a paid tier. If a feature requires collecting data that isn't actually needed, that feature doesn't get built.

Current work: three iOS apps (Trek Log, Foursight, 4615), regular instruction at a language school, and a YouTube channel about driving rural Japan.

Has been building software for over thirty years.
